Slippage issue today - am at the end of the second week of my routine and suddenly yesterday I started to slip out of the chamber after 5-10 mins. When I’d started out, this was due to the mismatch of sluice and I had kept blue diaphragm but downsized from blue to brown sluice, and then it worked perfectly. So what was happening? Have spent the morning fiddling like mad, and finally found out what was going on.
Yesterday I did notice the diaphragm had a hole at the edge, so changed that and was presuming that this was the issue. But again some slippage. So changed the diaphragm, then the sluice, then both, then tried the green narrower sluice, then added split adaptors - all didn’t work. So took the cap with diaphragm on its own and extracted air so that diaphragm was right against the inside of the cap, waited 5 mins and found that suction was being lost - not from the diaphragm or cap, but from the screw-in valve at the end. Took that off and extracted the tiny insert inside it at the end of the female thread - here the side of this insert that had been in contact with the male thread was flatter, so I turned it over and re-inserted and now it works like a dream again. So… final conclusion is that it seems these inserts might reduce in thickness just a bit over time and then suction starts being lost.
So test the cap with diaphragm, if no loss of suction then all OK, but if there is, then flip the insert (or possibly use something else in there like bit of silicone).
Hope this helps someone on here.
