Hanging with a rope over the shoulder doesn’t seem very practical to me. Does anyone here have a special way they rig their hanger for OTS that they’d like to share?

Not practical at all, especially once you’ve seen this very clever set up by Deasign:

If I start hanging OTS I think I will construct a comfortable shoulder thingy with one wheel over each shoulder for wires to glide over: Minimal friction=less weight required, divided by two. Wheels (pre-mounted on supporting metal things for attachment anywhere) and wires from any hardware store; cheap second hand leather jacket to mount them on, cut off sleeves and below higher torso part of jacket. Then hang sitting, standind or walking about.

Some dilutable drinks bottles or vegetable oil containers are made of plastic with ridges in the side. If you cut a bottle in half it is rounded to sit on a towel on your shoulder and the rope fits in the groove/ridge.


The "average size" is usually over-estimated. Small guys don't take part in surveys and big guys jump at the chance.

Great idea. It would keep the friction to a minimum as well as spread the load across the towel.

I have been avoiding hanging OTS because of the sheer inconvenience. I can get a lot of work done while hanging SO.

I’ll have to give this one a try.

when i hang i do 3 sets of 15 -25 mins with 17.5 lbs straight down

then i do one set to the side (i site down in my computer chair and hang the rope over the side armrests, somewhat like a pulley) this way i stretch out both chambers of the corproa cavernosa equally

i meant one to each side you can really feel it stretch it when you do it

Can I contribute 2 cents to this thread? I’ve just started a new method for me and it seems to be getting results. I use a bonji cord hung on the top hinge of a door for SU, SO from the handle or knob and the lower hinge for down or BTC if I turn around (back to the door). Then after whatever time I can devote to hanging (or in this case stretching) and reaching fatigue then I put on 5 golf club weights and wear them all day and into the evening. I try to maintain the club weights at least for the next three days, minus sleeping time or indefinitely if I can get in daily hanging time. Sometimes I’m pretty sporadic at my routine because of family activities. At any rate what I’m trying to do is lock in the hanging stretch after the bonji cord workout with the golf weights (5 rings=2lbs). I just measured this morning and it appears I’ve gained .25” in six weeks. I’m probably premature on my results but I’m excited at this point.

What I’m trying to do is keep the light weights on during the 3 phases of the lig healing time which is about 100 hours after tearing or damage from the stretching. I even feel a little fatigue while wearing the weights during the day. What I plan is to utilize the light weights all the time and the hanging to get the actual stretch I’m looking for. At this point it seems to be working.

Back to this thread. I like the SU stretch from the upper door hinge because during the stretch I can turn my body and change the angle of pull from one side to the other at will and really concentrate on what it feels like. Couple that with a dual fulcrum and you’ve got some great variations of stretching going on.

Any objective points of view about the above are welcomed.

Aren’t you afraid that the bungee cord will snap back? Perhaps I am reading it wrong, but I would fear putting my eye out. I have had those cords snap in my face when I was hauling shit in my van. I do like your idea. I think someone mentioned something fairly similair using the rounded eye hooks for bedroom doors to keep kids out to a bungee like device. You can lean back or twist a bit to hit different angles like you said. Overall a very decent idea. Congrats!

I think the only time that might happen is if a hook should break but that’s rather unlikely. You can get a good idea how much weight your stretching with by just hanging a known weight and measuring the lenght of the bungee, then duplicating that during your exercise. Frankly I’m at the point where I need to find some heavy duty cords cause I’m stretching out the end of standard bungee’s max stretch. What I really need to do is double up but now you might be talking more likely failures in which case you better have heavy duty industrial hooks.

Man you must have some awsome flaccid length to wear five golf weights. I can hardly keep four on. For me three is comfortable to wear all day, except they pinch a little when I sit, but five, that’s impressive.

I’ve never thought my flaccid length was impressive (still don’t) but it has improved. It’s still relative to temperature like anyone else. I have gotten 6 on but there’s not enough room to wrap easily so I’ve backed off to 5. I think that time will come when a sixth will be comfortable.

I really don’t think it matters how much weight is there. In actuality I think there is as much value to the wrap and the rings as a traction wrap. The weights just act as encouragement to keep the ligs from shortening in the last phase of healing. It’s all experimentation we’ll see if this works down the road. IF my gains continue to be great I’ll be shouting it here.
