My pump is broken so what now?

Well my thickwall pump I spent over $100 on back in March 2021 has decided it doesn’t want to hold a pump anymore. So I’m looking for a supplier in the United States to order a new one. Any recommendations? I would like to stay under $100, so the cheaper the better.

Are you sure it’s not just the valve? Cheap enough to replace if so.

I don’t know the first thing about these pumps. I wish I did. Only thing I know is it will pump as normal but refuses to stay so I’m constantly pumping every 5 seconds or so.

This pump has alot of good reviews and it is very affordable. Does anyone here have experience with it?

What happens if you pump to your desired level and then disconnect the pump from the cylinder? Does the vacuum hold in the cylinder?

I’d add that thickwall cylinders are OK but the pump they supply is cheap shit, so if you bought that then you might be able to continue to use the cylinder and just buy a good quality brake bleeder pump from amazon. Also never clean a cylinder with anything more than soap and water.

The pump from your screenshot looks like a toy.

It may be a result of your lack of gains but you seem pretty negative. If you have a positive attitude, working through issues is a lot easier. It might be worth considering writing a list of positive things every day in your progress thread just to help with that. There’s a thread with other options here Fix Your Head.

Ok, now try the same thing but pressing the cylinder against a relatively hairless part of your stomach.

Bummer cause that pump has awesome reviews and it very affordable with fast shipping. What pump do you recommend then? Far as a bad attitude um, if you been doing PE since 2009 with 0 results I’m sure you would have a attitude too. But I actually think my attitude is great because I’m always giving myself new hope with each new product or routine I try. A bad attitude would of quit long ago. Clocking in thousands of hours of PE is not no joke and not easy.

Also try unscrewing the valve and screwing it back on (be careful not screw on too tight as this can damage the cylinder). Check the condition of the O-ring before screwing it back on.

It’s very hard to succeed at anything if you have a negative attitude. It’s certainly possible that you have a better attitude than you appear to in your posts but you can answer that for yourself. Look at how you titled the thread “My pump is broken” (fail) rather than “My pump is losing pressure” (search for answers to fix).

In the US, leluv and LA pump cylinders are good. In the UK and EU thickwall are a good choice. Table Lamp is taking you through the engineering route to solving your problem though. You may not need a new cylinder, you may just need a better seal. What he hasn’t asked and I will is do you know where air is coming in to the cylinder? Is it from the base of the cylinder, the valve area? (this is what Table Lamp is trying to explore with you).

No cracks or damage. I don’t see a way to unscrew the valve but I could probably pull it out but that will likely just break it.
