I’ve been taking 50mg of zinc for at least 10 years now without any side effects. Taking citrate at the moment. One of the good affordable forms. Picolinate is probably the best.

From examine. ComZinc citrate is approximately 34% zinc by weight. For a dose of 50mg elemental zinc, take 146 mg zinc citrate.
Zinc sulfate is approximately 22% zinc by weight. For a dose of 50mg elemental zinc, take 220 mg zinc sulfate.Zinc gluconate is approximately 13% zinc by weight. For a dose of 50mg elemental zinc, take 385 mg zinc gluconate.
Zinc monomethionine is approximately 21% zinc by weight. For a dose of 50mg elemental zinc, take 238 mg zinc monomethionine.
Zinc should be supplemented daily.

I’ve been very cautious about taking to high dosages of zinc (I’ve never gone above 15mg when experimenting with zinc supplements), but tried for the first time to take ZMA (NOW brand) which has 30mg of zinc in the full recommended daily dosage, when I tried as recommended and took it on an empty stomach about one hour before bedtime, well the result was that I haven’t felt so bad during the night for a long time.
My stomach was upset and I couldn’t sleep for about 3-4 hours.
So my advise to anyone is be cautious when it comes to taking high doses of zinc.
