Porn Detox and PE

I’m cutting out porn because it has really started to hurt my EQ and my ability to get an erection under “normal” circumstances. Unfortunately, one of the other things I need to do if I was to completely rewire my brain is cut out masturbation, at least for the time being.

This leads to my question: will starting a PE routine now, in the midst of the “porn detox” set me back in terms of my ability to get erections in intimate situations?

Any thoughts/comments will be greatly appreciated.

No. You will soon learn to separate PE from sex. As for cutting out the masturbation completely, it’s going to be tough and will add to the chance of porn relapse. I learned the hard way. Last summer I attempted to stop both and it went well, but my urge to jerk off won over on day 59, and since I had been having sex with my fiance throughout the whole time, my brain decided to turn to porn to make it a “worth while” relapse. 6 months later, I’ve started another run at porn abstinence- only this time, I’m limiting masturbation- not eliminating it.

My advice is: in your rewiring process, re-learn to jerk off without porn. As I’ve told others, use your imagination/brain power to get it done. It’ll be a challenge, but it’ll win out in the end.

I’ve been around this site since about 2007 or so but I haven’t really gotten into PE. I just finally started to buckle down and get serious about it. I’ve been at it consistently for about 2 weeks now. I have been trying to do the porn detox thing as well.

I completely agree with the stuff TheStallion was saying. I intend to go on a porn detox as well, and keep strong at PE. Good luck to you carrbc!

I’m with TheStallion on this. I am on day 14 of my porn detox. Besides having sex with my wife, I’ve masturbated for pleasure a few times, and I masturbate to get hard for PE.

I use my imagination, it has gone into overdrive starting about about day 10 or so.

Basically I close my eyes and either recreate the sex I have with my wife, or I start with recreating as a basis, and then let my imagination take over. It is pretty damn powerful.

And I have really no desire to look at porn. Not as good as reality, not as good as my imagination.

So far so good, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Carrbc PE shouldn’t make it harder for you to become erect unless you are overtraining your unit. I do think though that doing PE while you have cut out masturbation and porn initially makes it hard to avoid wanking it or fighting the urge to watch porn. I base this mostly on my own experiences but the sensations of PE can be pretty stirring and start to turn your brain on which will end up being a trigger to go watch porn, especially if you used porn during PE previously! However I PE now purely on imagination and it is far superior to images, if I could only get a girl to assist me with my PE that would be a magical moment. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

I should also note that for the first week my libido was completely dead. Probably from the initial “shock” of being pornless. So I did not PE for a while. The first pornless PE I did was a struggle. But as the imagination came back it got easier and easier.

So I would say don’t worry about PE at first.

Thanks for the thoughts. I’ve been doing PE while struggling with porn detox - back up to day 6. PE was never really a trigger, idle time was. I’ve cut out masturbation, too, so we’ll see how it goes.

I was just about to submit a post for the same issue. I’ve been a LONG time lurker since 2004. I did one full month of PE back then and had good newbie gains, but then LIFE got in the way and so has porn, dammit.

I am done. I want to rewire my brain and penis connectivity completely. As of today I am cutting off porn. I usually masturbate when I watch it, so I’m going to take a full week off of masturbation. I won’t go cold turkey, but I feel that watching porn (every 2-3 days) and masturbating keeps me from starting PE the appropriate way. I plan to learn more by reading threads in the next 2 weeks and then start, though I’m already very familiar with the process and routine.

I’m single, and getting girls is not an issue, but I want to really concentrate on PE. I want to add another inch length and girth wise. I’m pretty happy with my prick overall…But I also feel like my EQ has gone down in the last 2 years due to too much jacking off and porn. It’s a stress reliever and I need to change that.

I just fell off the wagon. I was doing pe and not watching porn for almost two months.. last three days ive been ‘poning’ it up hard… haha… gonna restart my efforts again tmm.

I agree with stallion also; imagination will serve you better in real life encounters as opposed to porn.

As for masturbation, for the sole sake of prostate health, I think it is important to have a climax 2 or 3 times a week, be it with or without a partner.

Obviously, WITH a partner is preferable. :-)

I have been inspired to start a porn detox myself. My EQ has also went downhill as my frequency of watching porn has increased. I suspect the road ahead is going to get bumpy.

I wish you well gentlemen, although I do watch a fair amount of porn and at times to spur or keen things tiling over during PE sessions. At other times it is recreational. However I definitely can go a weeks without porn but without masturbation would even be harder. Stallion has made some very good points.

Well i lasted 4 days without masturbation :( but it wasnt through watching porn, so the count now stands at
1 - masturbation
4 - no porn….

I want to get at least to a month each, re-wire my brain so i can get erections just by thinking about things, not see/watching stuff.

Ive had the same struggle as everyone. Through experience Ive found that I cant not jerk off now and then. It just ends up being a massive porn binge. What I decided to do was allow myself to edge anytime and blow my load 2 or 3 times per week. All without porn. Sometimes edging takes the edge off the intense cravings because if you do it for long enough you can reach a point where you are suddenly satisfied and dont feel like going on.


Starting point (15 May 2011) BPE = 7.55", EG = 5.75" (biggest part at middle), EG = 5.55" (at base) EQ = Bad/low

Interim goal (ie. I would be highly satisfied with the following) BPE = 8.5", EG = 6.5" (at base), EQ = High

Long term goal (ie. It would be nice but I wouldn't be disappointed if I didnt get there and I wouldn't want to go beyond this)BPE = 9",EG = 7"
