Will one hour with extender work too?

The instructions I have seen for the extenders recommend 4-8 hours, but I can only do about one hour consistently. I usually do four stretches of about 15-20 minutes each and short breaks between. I probably spend two hours, but only one hour of that is in a stretched state. I use as much tension as possible without hurting too much.

I have been hoping that my shortened routine will work - just at a slower rate. Any opinions?

If that’s all you can do then do it and see what happens.

I think your one hour could be better spent with other techniques. A manual routine will yield better results if you spend an hour a day on that, rather than using the extender.

O.k., hmmm. I like the extender, because it doesn’t require lube and I can often do some evening paperwork. I guess it is what it is though.

Is it a sliding-sled-and-band style, or a vacuum cap and sleeve style?

Nowadays the sled types are out of favor, mostly because the vacuum cap style are easier to put on and the cap can be used for hanging or ADS as well as extending.

60 mins should be fine if you add heat.

Thanks, I will look into the heat method. I haven’t tried it yet.

I just started 1 hour per day using a NIR pad for the heat. I was hanging exclusively and wasn’t gaining anymore, so trying something else

So are the infrared heating pads essential? They seem to be expensive.

I got my for $40 on Amazon; brand is GMOWNW. It makes a difference and allows me to extend to a greater length than just using a normal heating pad. It’s the only thing I’ve bought that’s been expensive as everything I’m using is homemade with stuff from the hardware store.

Thanks, the ones I saw were about $150 which seemed too much for me. I will shop harder. :)

There are extenders that have calibrated spring-loaded resistance. You can effectively recreate a hanging routine with higher tensions (even incrementally increasing tensions, like with the "Hanging with FIRe" technique that many have had success with using). So one hour in an extender is more like a one hour hanging session in a device where you increase tension to relatively high levels during your session.

This will probably work much more efficiently than one hour in the traditional low-tension extender session that is targeted for 4-8 hours.

If you are feeling extra motivated you can then switch to a stealth ADS for the extra hours of lower tension, if you want to do something like that. This doesn’t require an extender frame. Vacuum attachments are extremely versatile in this way: you can go from your high-tension extender session to a low-tension ADS on a leg band or waist band and no one but you will know about it.

But if I were to pick one over the other and only had 1 hour to work with, I’d go with high tension, at least several days a week and perhaps lower tension on your days off from high tension.

Sorry, I didn’t see this when you posted a month ago. For some reason the email notifications are hit-and-miss for me.

To answer the question, this is the sliding-sled-and-band style. I have two extenders from LeLuv which cost about $40 each. For both models, I put on a TPR sleeve about 2 inches long to make it less painful. One model has a wide silicone strap and the other model has a thin silicone tube with a wider pouch somewhat like a slingshot. For tension, one model simply has long threaded rods with no spring. The other model has a spring with cylindrical sections that can be added for length.

The model with the threaded rod and the wide silicone strap can apply more tension, but it is painful when I try to get in and out of chairs and so forth.

Sorry, again, I didn’t see this post a month ago for some reason. That sounds like good advice. I have had a nasty cold the last week and a half, so I haven’t been doing anything.

A problem for me is sores with scabs that won’t heal due to the tension. I don’t know how the sores develop. Maybe these cheap extenders are pinching the skin or hairs and then the tension makes the sore worse. It’s really annoying. Even with almost two weeks break they are not fully healed.

As others have said, 60 mins is probably not worth the effort and you’re better off jelqing.

How come you cannot do more, due to pain or time constraint?

Btw if you can only do 15-20min sets you may be extending too much. I had the same issue, it hurts the ego but makes much sense to extend slightly less but be able to at least 30mins sets.
