It’s so funny to see how scared and weiry some of you are of your wives and girlfriends finding out. I don’t see any sense in hiding anything from your wife or girlfriend, unless they are renouned for being a blabber mouth to all their friends.

Meaningful relationships are built on trust, honesty and openess. Ask yourself how deep and meaningful your relationship with your woman is, if you can’t even be open and honest at all times with her. Especially when it isn’t hiding something from them for their own protection, like women keeping quiet often about them preferring something bigger than we have, for our own emotional protection.

Andrew, you are definately doing the right thing by telling her. I can understand not telling a partner at first, so as not to look like an idiot if it doesn’t actually work. Or getting their hopes up for something bigger before you know you can definately live up to that new expectation. But once you know it is working and that you have decided to stick with it long term, it becomes part of your life and should be shared openly with the one you love, as all parts of your life should be.

You should come clean. Apologize for not telling her the truth when she caught you, but simply tell her what you are doing and why. You may have to qualify why you didn’t tell her at the outset - you were a little unsure of PE yourself and wanted to have gains to show before revealing what you were up to. YOU ARE NOT ASKING PERMISSION!!!! If you have made gains you can use these facts to bypass the “this stuff doesn’t work” part of the conversation. Then you mainly have to deal with her concern about injury.

Once you have this conversation and make your needs for private time to get your work out done, you will be free. No slinking around, no secrets. My wife was kind of turned on by the whole thing and was very considerate about giving me time and space to do my workouts.

Ha! If my wife knew I had free time to pull my willy… she would debate me on the importance of that compared to projects that need a fixin round the house… or to use that time to get office work done… or spend that time with the kiddies… etc…
