Gaining 10+ cubic inches

Appreciate all the responses thus far and think we’re currently dealing with a disagreement of definitions. Some definitions of faith are based on a blind belief in inexplicable, magical processes whereas, I think the faith TG’s talking about is something like the process of mentally overcoming a mindset - in this case perhaps all of us flying in the face of medical science that significant gains can’t occur after one’s late teens/early twenties.

Plus, research in the area of neuroscience now demonstrates that it is utilizing our “belief system” that can unlock the mind to orchestrate what we want in our bodies, careers, relationships, etc. Nothing magical or even spiritual but simply the mind/body interface mechanism an organic entity uses to access and program what amounts to the greatest computing device the universe has yet seen (quite probably a quantum computing device although that’s not precisely the reason for the reference to quantum mechanics in my handle).

Fair enough. But I’m here to inspire and give guidance. And to keep my message simple, for those who need guidance.

Training wheels are for folks who haven’t mastered riding by themselves. Those who have don’t need my guidance.

Great responses. I will see about adding more stats from the database.

Along the lines of the discussion, I want to address what’s probably one of the biggest obstacles to transitioning from that stage of newbie faith to the stage of veteran knowledge. Getting to that point where you know you enough that you can simply keep going to keep growing.

The illusory plateau

More than any other reason, I think people end their PE careers early because they think it has stopped working. They don’t measure a gain for a year and think “my gains have stopped.”

A much more productive way to think of these stalls is that PE gains occur at the bio-molecular level. Every workout we do, every rest we take, is resulting in gains on some microscopic scale. That is, provided we have learned to gain, and are doing PE in an effective manner.

I have been a meticulous over-measurer throughout my PE career. Less so as time has gone on, but enough so that I have some important insights to offer on the topic of the plateau in gains. As I mentioned, my gains rate has been about 1 cubic inch / year, and I consider that to be about average. With this gains rate, I often go 6-9 months between recording measurable gains. And that is while carefully accounting for all the many variables in size and measurements. It’s easy to see how a guy with a lower gains rate, or a guy who didn’t measure often could be unfortunate and compare a favorable measurement to an unfavorable one - and mistakenly conclude he hasn’t gained in over a year, or even two years! When all along the microscopic gains have been adding up.

That said, I believe gains of about 1 ci are noticeable to the hand and the eye in the normal course of PE operations. Even those that don’t care to measure often should be able to tell if they’re gaining on an annual time frame.

The point is, over and over again, I thought I had plateaued. And over and over again, several months later I would measure another gain. Even after I became aware of the physiology of how this was working, those thoughts that I was plateauing would still occasionally creep in. Until eventually, I had proven the “plateau” thought wrong so many times that I came to the current understanding - that the physiological process of gaining is occurring with every workout, every rest.

So, don’t be alarmed or discouraged if you go several months without measuring a gain. Especially if you feel like what you’re doing is working, because then it probably is. I think the time frame to sound the alarm is going over 1 year without measuring a gain. At that point, some analysis and adjustment of PE style would be well warranted.

Eventually you will get a feel for your individual personal gains rate. For me, it would be about 1 year without measuring gains that I would start thinking, OK I’m doing something wrong now, time to adjust. For somebody else that time frame might be 6 months, or 2 years. Whatever it is for you, I think as long as you don’t quit, the gains will show up on the ruler after a while. And even if they don’t, there are a thousand modifications to your routine to find something that will work, available by digging through the forum.

And for what it’s worth, just about everything I’ve tried has worked. I’ve never gotten to that 1 year mark. It’s always been 6-9 months for me.

I’m not devout religiously, however my take on this may be the meaning intended by Titleist, it may not.

Genuine faith is characterized by a personal reason to believe. By finding whatever it is for yourself and choosing to believe of your own volition.

Blind faith is characterized by being taught to believe or led to faith through someone else’s belief. This is common in a house where children are raised devout to a faith but have no true reason to believe of their own. Their trust in the person who taught them is reason enough.

Once again, just my guess.

Thanks TG. I realize that it could be viewed as drifting off topic, so thanks for the thoughtful :) answer. Not a criticism, just information: I find your explanation unisatisfactory. But I respect you even more than prior for trying.

Thanks for the follow up BD. My gains have always come in spurts so while it’s very encouraging after a gain, the opposite is true during a plateau, where you feel your doing everything right. My current plan is to “have faith in science”, <g> and move forward patiently, certain gains are inevitable.

Keep it coming BD :)

The most important lesson I’ve learnt is that strategy is far more important than method.

That’s a toughie, Xeno. I think that blind faith is belief in something when you have no experience or understanding in the matter, but choose to believe it anyway. Suppose you’ve never heard of PE before, but some guy comes up to you on the street and says you can stretch your cock and make it bigger. You know that doctors say it isn’t so, but you choose to believe the guy on the street anyway. That’s blind faith.

Let’s contrast that with a different set of circumstances. Instead of a guy on the street, you find Thunder’s Place. You read up on the theory, you try it, and you get some gains. You listen to Xeno, Titleist, and Bib, and believe that you can achieve further gains. You don’t know for sure that you’ll gain some more, but believe it anyway.

I’ll call that genuine faith. It is based on facts and experience. Other people can discount the facts and experience you’ve had, but they are none the less real to you. You can’t prove it, but it doesn’t matter.

What is cool about this thread is BD’s thesis: he’s telling us that we can expect to continue to gain 1 cubic inch a year if they stick with it. That’s genuine faith in my book.

You know it in the core of your soul, to paint its picture beyond that would be nearly impossible.

For me it provides me a bond to the universe that yields my right to exist.

This is where my head is at. I have 0 gains after 200 days of PE, prior to that I had gains. I have data and I am analyzing that data and thinking about all I have read on Thunders. So I change my program based on data and information and keep on going.

Even though I measured no gains over those 200 days I did not lose what I gained, so maybe my program was cementing gains already made, works for me. I see it as a marathon and those that win are the ones that stay in the race and apply methods learned through experience and shared knowledge.

Plus, I apparently have a passion for pulling and squeezing on my penis, so there’s that.

Great thread and thoughts BD.

Your thesis about the illusory plateau should not only become a sticker, it should be nominated for the 2017 PE Nobel prize. Rarely PE wisdom has been explained in such clarity.

You have my vote.

All this may sound ironical, but it is not. I simply thank you for the insight… in my own mind!

My logbook: Richard65 - the roadbook

Volume = L x (G / 2)^2 / 3.14
or for simple calculator entry: L x G x G / 12.56

I’m not quite at the 2-year mark, but here’s what I’m at so far:
7.5 x 5.5 to 8.5 x 5.6
18.1 ci to 21.2 ci
+3.1 ci (+17%)

Even if I could be guaranteed to keep gaining at the same rate, I’m sure I’d stop before the +10 ci mark.
