Hidden effect of PE....anemia?

This question may belong in a scientific category but the content of the question could effect everyone who does PE, so I placed it here.

My question is: how many people here who do PE, especially among veterans and those who jelq on a regular basis, have any form of anemia or symptoms of anemia? Symptoms of anemia include: weakness, fatigue, palor, poor concentration. The symptoms can be vague, and the average PE’er might not attribute pallor and fatigue to playing with the penis.

The reason I ask is: I wonder if rigorous PE, especially jelqing, has the ability to cause mechanical damage to red blood cells (RBC) to a level at which anemia can develop. It is known that certain vascular conditions and mechanical damage from prosthetic heart valves can cause hemolysis and anemia. I am curious as to whether PE, especially chronic and intense PE, can mimic this mechanical damage to RBCs. As you know, the penis is a primarily vascular organ which makes the ideal place to “crush RBCs”.

It should be really easy to support or disprove this question by having those who have done PE regularly for a long time (months to years) report unusual cases of anemia or odd CBC values. On another thread, one of the members revealed he had iron deficiency anemia, which I thought was interesting, and wondered if PE could have anything to do with this.

I think it is always important to analyze all aspects of PE from a medical point of view to avoid any long term harm to oneself.

Highly concentrated bullshit, sorry to be so rude.

No, no anemia.

Going for 6 inches of girth, wish me luck.

Categorically not. If just squeezing a part of your body killed enough blood cells to be anemic, we’d all have to live our lives in padded safe rooms because just plain living would kill us (or does it?). Find another reason for your fatigue. By the way, the main cause of anemia in men is bleeding somewhere. If you seriously think you are anemic, see a doctor.

I honestly doubt it that P.E can cause anemia.

Anyways, I have been having low b.p since the past 4 days, but mine is not linked to P.E. I have been on a break ever since my girlfriend came back from university. I highly suspect that my low b.p is linked with too much sex and a very inadequate nutrition (We stay in bed most of the time save for breakfast and bathroom. Sadly enough all good things has an end, she is heading back home this Friday).

About the sex, I have been exaggerating a bit! (actually a lot.) Anyways still got that low b.p thing.

padawan - Is this measured blood pressure or symptoms you attribute to low blood pressure? It could be due to some level of dehydration (probably not from losing too much sperm), maybe from sweating and not drinking enough fluid. Nutrition, maybe (if your living on M & M”s and root beer). If better nutrition, fluid and less semen loss don’t make a difference and if your pressure is running more than 15% below your normal and/or you’re experiencing light-headness when standing, see your doctor.

100 by 60 otherwise I am 120 by 80. I believe it could be due to dehydration and to malnutrition. It’s been really hot lately and also I am on a diet (I will stop with that for now).

What bothers me is the dizziness, fatigue and my heart beating quite fast at times. I will see a doctor on Saturday if ever it persists.

Thanks for your reply though.

Damn it. I forgot that I use Minoxidil.

Topical spray on or foam minoxidil (which when taken orally as Minipress is a great blood pressure drug) has only a small uptake through the skin into the circulation so it should have minimal BP effect even if you don’t wash your hands.

I had iron deficient anemia a few months after starting PE but it was from a systemic allergic reaction to a antibiotic I took. I don’t think PE causes that. Or sex and masturbation would also be causes.

Padawan I would get to the doctor a whole lot sooner than Saturday. In the meantime start drinking lots of water, not Pepsi, not beer just plain ol’ cold ice water.
Start eating anything you can get your lunch hooks around. If it so happens you turn out to be anemic you need a high calorie diet full of meat protein and dark leafy green vegetables. I’m talking 3-5 thousand calories per day.

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

Thanks Kingpole and pudendum. I’ll do that.

I’m not saying PE causes anemia, I just think it would be interesting to study whether PE affects RBC counts. Theoretically it could damage RBCs… but could it damage enough RBCs to cause any symptoms of anemia before the body has enough time to replenish them? I think it is a valid question. Regardless of whether RBC levels are reduced or not, anemia of this type would not really be harmful and probably not even noticeable. It very well could be that intense jelqing for extended periods of time could reduce RBC count but never reach a symptomatic level. And this is almost certainly the case as this board would likely have more posts with complaints of anemia-like symptoms. I’d like to add that anyone strongly denying a potential correlation between PE and RBC destruction without citing or conducting any studies is doing a diservice to PE. If there were a correlation, a simple “don’t overdo it or you will be breaking alot of red blood cells” would suffice.

suziesun - You don’t have to do a study to dispute your claim that PE causes anemia. Even though you cover your bases by saying you’re not saying that PE causes anemia, you go right on saying that PE could cause symptoms of anemia. You need to understand a few very important points:

The percentage of your total blood flow that flows through your penis at any one time is small, very small. By the way, the value of your penis volume in your PE statistics is not all blood; blood is only a % of that. Even if this is 100 ml, consider that your total blood volume is 5 liters (5000 mls); that’s 2%.

In the normal male, between 37 - 45% of the blood is made up by red blood cells. Anemia by definition (in guys), is when this percentage drops below 37%. A normal guy has 43% of their blood as red cells, if as you propose that PE causes anemia, it would have to destroy over by over 15% of the red blood cells. Not happening.

The body makes blood every minute of every day. There is a very important mechanism that the body has to detect the need for more blood cells. To be anemic, you you have to propose that PE kills a lot more red blood cells than the body can make to keep up. Not happening.

The spleen is the organ of the body that removes damaged blood cells from the circulation and is involved with breaking them down to reuse the iron in blood. If you propose that PE damages and kills enough blood cells to cause anemia, your spleen would be enlarged and tender.

If levels of red blood cells don’t decrease below normal levels, you are not anemic. If your red blood cell percentage in the blood does not change (as you propose), the only way you’ll be anemic is if you are already anemic. To have symptoms of anemia, you have to be anemic. Be aware, as I said before, there are many things that cause symptoms of fatigue, not just anemia.

I respectfully disagree with your premise. I can further tell you that as a physician and a physiologist, you don’t know what you are talking about. You are doing a disservice to this forum by making a claim such as this without having at least some minimum knowledge of normal physiology. Please, get you facts straight before you post.
