Regardless of whether RBC levels are reduced or not, anemia of this type would not really be harmful and probably not even noticeable. It very well could be that intense jelqing for extended periods of time could reduce RBC count but never reach a symptomatic level. And this is almost certainly the case as this board would likely have more posts with complaints of anemia-like symptoms. I’d like to add that anyone strongly denying a potential correlation between PE and RBC destruction without citing or conducting any studies is doing a diservice to PE. If there were a correlation, a simple “don’t overdo it or you will be breaking alot of red blood cells” would suffice.
suziesun - You don’t have to do a study to dispute your claim that PE causes anemia. Even though you cover your bases by saying you’re not saying that PE causes anemia, you go right on saying that PE could cause symptoms of anemia. You need to understand a few very important points:
The percentage of your total blood flow that flows through your penis at any one time is small, very small. By the way, the value of your penis volume in your PE statistics is not all blood; blood is only a % of that. Even if this is 100 ml, consider that your total blood volume is 5 liters (5000 mls); that’s 2%.
In the normal male, between 37 - 45% of the blood is made up by red blood cells. Anemia by definition (in guys), is when this percentage drops below 37%. A normal guy has 43% of their blood as red cells, if as you propose that PE causes anemia, it would have to destroy over by over 15% of the red blood cells. Not happening.
The body makes blood every minute of every day. There is a very important mechanism that the body has to detect the need for more blood cells. To be anemic, you you have to propose that PE kills a lot more red blood cells than the body can make to keep up. Not happening.
The spleen is the organ of the body that removes damaged blood cells from the circulation and is involved with breaking them down to reuse the iron in blood. If you propose that PE damages and kills enough blood cells to cause anemia, your spleen would be enlarged and tender.
If levels of red blood cells don’t decrease below normal levels, you are not anemic. If your red blood cell percentage in the blood does not change (as you propose), the only way you’ll be anemic is if you are already anemic. To have symptoms of anemia, you have to be anemic. Be aware, as I said before, there are many things that cause symptoms of fatigue, not just anemia.
I respectfully disagree with your premise. I can further tell you that as a physician and a physiologist, you don’t know what you are talking about. You are doing a disservice to this forum by making a claim such as this without having at least some minimum knowledge of normal physiology. Please, get you facts straight before you post.
