Read - The Second PE Survey -- A Thunder's Place group project

Good heavens, another revision!

Thank you for choosing to participate in the Thunder’s Place PE Survey!

Please try to answer the following questions as accurately as you can. If you have no idea about the answer to a given question — if, for example, you never took a starting girth measurement — please skip the question rather than guessing wildly. Use your best judgment about what degree of guessing would be appropriate (e.g., if you remember pumping for 6 to 8 consecutive weeks at one point, "7 weeks" would be a fine answer). If your most accurate response to a question involves a decimal (e.g., 3.75 or 0.9), please feel free to include the decimal in your answer rather than rounding off to a whole digit.

It is extremely important that you answer all questions truthfully. Even if you have lied about any of these matters in your posts at Thunder’s Place, please be honest in this survey. Your individual data will not be connected to your username in the analysis process.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: If it's not too much hassle, you might consider including a preliminary question about whether the participant wants to take the survey using the English measurement system (inches, pounds) or the metric system the rest of the world uses (cm, kg). If this is done, answers in cm will have to be converted automatically (into the data spreadsheet) to inches. (I plan to do analyses in English measurements, since most members here use them.)]

Section I: Basic PE Outcomes

If you never took a particular measurement, please skip the relevant question.

1. What was your bone-pressed erect length before beginning any PE? ____ inches

2. What was your erect girth (circumference, not width!), measured at midshaft, before beginning any PE? ____ inches

3. What was your erect girth, measured at your thickest point, before beginning any PE? ____ inches

4. What is your current bone-pressed erect length? ____ inches

5. What is your current erect girth, measured at midshaft? ____ inches

6. What is your current erect girth, measured at your thickest point? ____ inches

7. How has your erection hardness (i.e., rigidity, firmness to the touch)been affected by PEing? Please note that hardness is not the same as angle. A man can have rock-hard, throbbing erections that point straight down (i.e., high hardness, low angle), or, conversely, soft erections that point upwards (low hardness, high angle).

__ Erection hardness has decreased from PEing.

__ Erection hardness has not been affected by PEing.

__ Erection hardness has increased from PEing.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: These should be radio buttons. The first option should be entered into the spreadsheet as "-1", the second as "0", and the third as "1".]

8. How much, if at all, has your flaccid size changed from PEing? Please consider only the flaccid size you experience after at least two days off from PE; we want to be sure that "temporary" flaccid gains (e.g., a post-jelqing pump) don’t interfere with your assessment of changes in flaccid size. If you have not taken two days off from PE since starting PE, please skip this question.

__ My flaccid penis is now almost always or always smaller than it was before PE.

__ My flaccid penis is now usually smaller than it was before PE.

__ My flaccid penis is still approximately the same size as it was before PE.

__ My flaccid penis is now usually larger than it was before PE.

__ My flaccid penis is now almost always or always larger than it was before PE.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. Code the first answer as -2, the second as -1, the third as 0, the fourth as 1, and the fifth as 2.]

Section II: Your Basic PE Regimen

Throughout this and subsequent sections, the word "average" (or "typical") is used frequently. We recognize that there is tremendous variation in men's PE regimens over time. Please do the best you can to provide an arithmetic mean to those questions that call for an "average." For example, if you have spent half of your PE career doing 30 minutes of PE per day, and you have spent the other half doing 40 minutes of PE per day, then you have averaged 35 minutes of PE per day.

1. For approximately how many weeks total have you actively PEed? Please exclude breaks from this calculation. ____ weeks

2. Throughout your whole PE career, approximately how many weeks of break have you taken in total? If you are "retired" from PE, please do not include in your calculation the weeks that have passed since you quit PE (i.e, since your final PE session). ____ weeks

3. How many days per week, on average, have you spent PEing during your phases of active PE (i.e., excluding your break weeks)? ____ days

4. How many minutes, on average, have you spent PEing on those days in which you have PEed? Please exclude rest time between "sets" of exercises from this calculation. Please also exclude time using an all-day stretcher (e.g., PE Weights) or mild traction device (e.g., Penimaster). ____ minutes

5. Which of the following exercises have been substantial components of your PE career? Please check all the apply. (An exercise can be considered a "substantial" part of your PE regimen if you have ever used it at least twice a week for at least two consecutive weeks.)

Section VI: [The Mystery Section]

[This section, which may or may not be included in the final version of the survey, may or may not exist at present.] :explode:

I will continue thinking about how to assess more specific aspects of people’s routines (e.g., temporal order & overlap of exercices, #sets vs. lengthsets) with an eye toward useful analysis. This survey has gotten long enough that even “minor” changes take a while to incorporate, so I haven’t had time to do everything I’d like. Forgive any typos in this latest revision; I haven’t the patience to proofread it anymore :)

Great job, PG! I know that there’s a lot more to this than just writing the questions.

Enter your measurements in the PE Database.

The programmer and I are working on a possible way to address some of the concerns about regimen overhauls over time (i.e., changes in routine) & the gains associated with each regimen. Each subject may repeatedly report “regimens” and “outcomes” (e.g., gains associated with the regimen) for each major routine he’s used; a problem here is the order effect - each subject’s data will be split to constitute X subjects in the analysis process, where X represents the number of routines he’s employed over time; consequently the earlier routines in his career will be privileged in their likelihood to achieve gains, possibly skewing the apparent efficacy of various exercises to favor newbie-routine ones (e.g., jelq, stretch). Complicated poop.

We decided to throw in the proverbial kitchen sink. You will be able to enter your changing routines over time (and the outcomes associated with each) in the final version of the survey. Initial analyses will not take advantage of nearly all the subtleties available in the data, but it never hurts to have them available for later research. Problem is that almost any way of parsing (into analyzable form) the clog of data that we’re going to have will be pretty arbitrary — but hey, then we can test arbitrary hypotheses that get thrown out there by random PE kooks and sorcerers over the years :D

Oh, and whoever suggested lots of the subjective questions (how do you feel about your pee-pee, etc.) — we will be including some of that stuff, it’s just not visible here.

I am in the midst of a massive organizational overhaul to accomodate the new parameters of the survey. Changing verb tenses and the like is getting annoying :)

MM, I hope you will return and follow up on this idea, because you completely lost me  (remek prays for his similie to work for the first time)

This point may already have been considered by PG’s changes. The basic point is that most guys see much easier gains when they are newbies than they do later on. Most guys also start with the newbie routine. Thus, if one did not take into account the order of routines performed over a PE career, one would inevitably conclude that the newbie routine was the most effective routine for achieving gains, regardless of when it is done. This may be true, but is not necessarily true. It could be that virtually any form of PE would produce good gains if it were the first form of PE performed.

This is why it is so important that the survey probe the effects of the order in which routines are performed.

On second throught, I agree with you. ADS should have its own section. Otherwise, we’re letting our preceived notions about how ADS’s work color the survey questions.
