Why do they say pumping is not permanent but clamping is?

I’ve been experimenting with pumping and was suffering from lymph buildup and discolouration to begin with. I was working at about 5hg for 15-30 minute sets, often 4 or more of these in a row with some edging and jelqing in-between. While I wasn’t too concerned about the colour aspect the lymph will only happen more easily and certaintly isn’t healthy. Since reading about condom pumping I’ve been using a silicone sheath and it’s pretty much stopped both problems. I can keep at between 5-7hg now for half hour sets consecutively with no side effects. A other factor is trying to maintain an erection in the tube; I just kegel on each pump and this seems to do the trick for me. IGB

Can any of our more experienced pumpers here comment on thoughts as to whether condom pumping, or pumping with a silicone sleeve effects permanent/temporary gains, relative to pumping without?

I’m not the most experienced pumper here but I’ve personally found using a silicone sleeve is more comfortable and focuses the vacuum on just the penis (CC’s, CS) as apposed to without it, it felt like it was trying to suck my scrotum and fat pad into the tube so I wasn’t getting as much expansion in the penis.

Can’t say for sure about permanent yet as I haven’t been using the sleeve for long but the temporary gains seem to last all day when I do my morning set.

Pumping worked very well for me for permanent gains. Through experience, I found pumping in the morning with a strong erection when my testosterone levels were highest was the most effective.

I also find pumping with a hard erection is better for me. When you are erect, you are getting a summary of forces, EF+VF=net expansive force (erectile force+vacuum force).

I think it was discussed in the pumping vs clamping thread, about the benefit of entering a pump with a more partial erection for better expansion. Although , I think is true that when you enter erect is less possibility of fluid build up.

I never go into the pump flaccid, and I never come out flaccid. Anything less than 75% and you’re getting less expansion with more fluid buildup.

For me, edging and pumping go hand in hand. I usually warm up for about 10 minutes, then lube up and get at least an 80% erection before my first pump. My first two pumps are usually a minute long or less, just to get things warmed up. Then I edge until I’m at 95%+ and reenter the tube. I keep repeating this process, staying as close to 100% erection as possible. This has been a learning experience, and I’ve jizzed in the tube on multiple occasions, but I am getting better.

I generally don’t spend more than 4 minutes in the tube each time (once my erection level goes below 90% I usually pull it out), but I do it multiple times over the course of my edging session. My personal opinion is that you should never pump flaccid or semi-flaccid. Always as erect as possible. I stay as close as I can to the PONR because it means more expansion. When I’m in the tube I gently wiggle and twist the tube to stimulate my glans and keep my erection level (this is where I screw up sometimes and blow it).

At the moment my rule is to not go over 4 Hg. The cool thing is that I can usually withstand more Hg the less erect I am. When I am near 100% erect 4 Hg feels like too much pressure sometimes. In my opinion, it’s not just the Hg that matters, but also your erection level. I have never had edema or “donut ring,” ever.

Another trick I use to get more engorgement with less Hg is to hold a light reverse kegel and squeeze my ass cheeks together to expose more of the penis.

Not all guys that pump make gains, true enough. But that can also be said about every single type of PE there is. For some reason, the “accusation” against pumping caught on and this myth persists. Its too bad, because pumping with a gauge can be very safe, reproducible and effective…if done correctly and persistently.

Is it MORE effective than other methods? No, but it along with hanging is one of the few methods that can be strictly “objective” in your force measurement. That alone makes it very attractive to me. Hanging you have a definite and stable weight you use, pumping with a gauge can use a definite and reproducible vacuum force.

If I am telling you how I jelqued successfully, how do I give you an objective force level? I can’t. I can say, “use medium force, and avoid pain” but what does that exactly mean? Well, there is no “exactly” even for me. From day to day there can be significant changes in my force level.

If I am hanging, I can say, “start with 2 lbs and work up to 5 lbs”, and this can be precisely replicated anywhere on the planet.

When I tell you to use a hand applied method, then their is no objective precise measurement, which is a drawback. I may find the ideal “feel” for me, but really you are guessing when trying to replicate it.

I’ve been gone for a while and just returned today.

I am one of those members that stuck to a pumping/jelqing routine that yielded great results. My pictures and routine are in my sig. Pumping definitely works and the analogy Sparky made was brilliant. I think it’s about finding what works for you. It’s like a diet or any work out regimen. There’s no set way that suits everyone. It’s about trying different things to see what your body responds to and once you discover what works, perfect it.
