Homemade Extender the White Knight 2

I recently made a few adjustments to the design of the White Knight and have finally got around to documenting them.

Changed the single wing nut off the back into two screws.
This streamlines the profile considerably, which means less edges to catch on things while multitasking. Once you get the noose adjusted in the right place it really doesn’t need to be changed so the “ease of access” of the wing nut really isn’t necessary.

Changed noose materials
Went back to my original stiffer noose, 1/4” clear tubing sheathed with 3/8” latex tubing. Once conditioned to it, it offers great support around the glans without having to squeeze too tight on the shaft, allowing better circulation. Doesn’t stretch out like the latex only noose so finding the proper adjustment is easier.

Thickened the head of the device
I used a hot glue gun to build up the area under the padding to increase the effectiveness of the “quick noose” mechanics. Just the plastic fitting alone isn’t quite thick enough.

Check out the image to see the new look.

You are quite talented, cantlook. If I were to try and recreate your extender for myself what tools would I need to own? I am exploring the option of building an extender rather than purchasing one. The cost of materials for a homemade extender is cheaper than the cost of a commercial extender; however, I don’t own any tools and would have to calculate this into the cost of building an extender. Thanks, cantlook.

You are worth your weight in gold, marinera, thank you.

Thank you.

The “major” tool you need is some sort of drill to make the holes, other than that, a saw to cut the fittings, a pair of scissors and a screwdriver.

The “darknight” is a little less labour intensive, but not as elegant in form or function. and does not use the “quick noose”.

I rebuilt my current white knight from scratch in about two and a half hours. I had tried to paint the old one and even though I used paint that would bond to plastic, it stayed tacky for days and days so I scrapped it and started over, implementing my recent “improvements”.

Thanks again for the compliments, I would love to see a picture if anyone else has actually built one.

By the way, I used a memory foam shoe insole for the “foam rubber” on the top, which has a fabric lining to it. I did not really think about it too much when someone in another post said I spent way too much and could have got a piece of foam or gel for cheaper, and I said it would probably work with a different material. After thinking and using it for many months, the friction from the fabric is a crucial part of what makes the “quick noose” work, so I would recommend the same material, although I have not tried anything else (and something else may work).

Thanks again and good luck!

Thanks for the response, you are very valuable resource to the TP community as well, cantlook. I have been reading up on the dark knight also. If I can borrow a drill from a friend I will try to proceed with putting one together and then post pics of what I come up with.

Cantlook,

I’ve gotten most of the parts for your extender and have it mostly assembled, but I can’t seem to find the 3/8” PVC supply tube. Did you get this at a hardware store? Do you have any other photos of what it looks like?

It should be available in any hardware store. Its for connecting the faucet to the hot and cold valves under the sink. or the toilet to the valve coming out of the wall. Many places are chrome or braided supply tubes but the “cheap” version is a pvc version. They will be 12” long for a toilet, around 20” or more for a faucet.

It just works as a spacer, so any kind of tubing that is wide enough to slide over the rods yet narrow enough to hold the springs should work.

Maybe the shaft of an ink pen might be able to be cut down to fit?

Good luck. :)

Ah ok, thanks. All I saw was the braided version, Ill have to try another hardware store for the PVC one.

You may be able to buy it by the foot as well, they use it as an alternative to copper for hooking up dishwashers, ice machines, etc. :)

It’s very similar, but if you haven’t already, check out the latest reincarnation of the White Knight:

I just tried this and it works great. It is the perfect diameter and most importantly, it looks great. ;)

The Bic pen shaft will officially replace the pvc tubing for spacers in the upcoming tutorial for the Lightning Rod.

Hey Can’t! I’ve been reading a lot of your posts awesome! I just have one question about ‘The White Knight 2’ cantlookwk2.jpg

Your first picture, with all the parts, I’m just curious what is the little curved plastic part being held on by the Machine screw wing nut?

Thanks!

(Sorry about my post I wrote it on my phone :/)
