After 6 months of hanging

I have been hanging for six months. The last two months have produced no gains. I am not disappointed though, I have gained nearly ¾ of an inch in six months (7 ½ to 8 ¼ BPEL). My goal is 9” BPEL, so I have ¾ of an inch to go.

The first few months, I was doing 8-9 sets a day, and the last several months, I have only been doing between 4-5-6 sets a day. I thought maybe with increasing weight, I could do less sets, but I guess this is not a good strategy. I plan on doing 8 sets a day now. Also, during some of the sets, I would stop between 17-20 minutes. I am now going to do a full 20 minutes, even if I have to take weight off.

Any suggestions or advice from experienced hangers?

Current Measurement June 1st 2010: EBPL 8.0

What weight were you using when you made gains?

Did you hit a plateau with that weight, and that is why you switched to heavier weight?


My Before and After pics -- .5" gain...

I’m not sure, I didn’t measure until the end of month 3, and I was up to 15lbs. I think I gained close to 1/2 inch the first three months. I started at 5lbs and tried to go up by 1-1.5 lbs each week. I think I plateaued at around 19 lbs. Bib said you should add 1 lb per week. But, I stopped doing so many sets, 4-5 a day instead of of the 7-9 sets I was doing each day. I think this may be the problem. Using 21lbs definitely pulls like hell, so I am going to stick with it and increase to at least 8 sets a day and will measure again in a month.

On what angle do you hang ?

Yours are too light

I gained half inch in six months or so.

Never started to feel much pull at the ligs until 12 lbs.

I am currently at 15 lbs and only doing about 3 sets per day, I have never really done more than that

it seems you might have answered you own question.

Do you reach fatigue in the first 1-2 sets? i wonder if there were any other changes aside from the number of sets?

0.75” in 4 months is nothing short of extraordinary, congratulations.

Maybe the best thing would be deconditioning break since you’re already at 21 lbs. Just a thought, someone else with more experience could give better answer (like blink2000 :) ).

I reach fatigue every set.

I realized increasing the thickness of my wrap has greatly increased my hanging amount. Right now I am hanging a two 3lb weights and a metal doorknob all in a bucket. Now I understand why you can do so much. I was relying too much on the tug i felt on my skin. Now that I have adjusted the stretch feels awesome.
