Pumping

Ok I just finished 5 months on the newbie routine and would like to add pumping to the routine.I have read alot of pumping threads but am confused about a few things.

First off is why everyone buys auto parts to construct their own pumps?

Why not porno shop pumps?

I also could not find a construction guide for making my own pump.

The BEST porno shop pumps ARE the auto pumps, but with huge markups. Go to Harbor Freight for the best deal on a pump.

They have very good prices and you can put together an entire pump package without having to shop around at various sites for parts at a good price.

Buy the red handled brass pump with gauge and the proper cylinder size and you are done for about 60 bucks plus shipping.

I bought a US General pump at harbor freight for $20 and a Jim Diamond 2” cylinder on ebay for like $25 and have had great luck. The reason for the “automotive” reference is because the vac pump is intended for bleeding your brakes on your car. It’s just a simple vacuum hand pump with a gauge! $45 and whalla, fat dick!

Would this do the job?

Ograx, that one doesn’t have a gauge and would be dangerous to use. I think most people start with 2-3 Hg on a gauge pump and over time move up to 5 Hg or higher. A gauge pump is what you need so you don’t over do it and hurt your little friend.

Can you add a gauge to one that doesn’t have one attached?

I think you can but that would be too much of a hassle and would actually cost you more. Take the advice of the thousands of members here, get the harbor freight pump. It’s quality made and has a gauge, all you would need is a cylinder and maybe a adapter part of two. I’m sure someone will drop by and give you a list of everything you need.

I got a decent pump package but its plastic even though it has a gauge on it. The thing doesn’t keep a constant vacuum and I know sooner or later the pump will die on me. So I’m getting a harbor freight pump within a week or two so when the thing does go out I won’t be stranded.

The problem for a new guy with no pumping equipment to buy from Harbor Freight is that you end up having to go to three different stores to get all of the parts you need and therefore pay 3 sets of shipping charges. That gets to be expensive.

I still think the best deal going to get everything you need from one source is Picturebrite.

By the way, that pump you showed from videocanada is very cheap and would last about 2 weeks. Don’t buy any cylinder that comes with a rubber booty on the end for sealing and for a new guy, don’t buy any pump without a gauge. If you try to buy something too cheap it will just cost you more in the end to replace all of that crap.

I bought nothing but the pump at Harbor and the cylinder from ebay. I simply used the tubing supplied with the pump, trimmed the end down 1mm or so, put it in the fitting on the cylinder and bang! I have no issues at all with the set-up.

The harbor pump came with two hoses. I barbed them together with the hose to hose barb that came with the pump for a nice long hose. I pump to vac in the bathtub and set the pump on the floor outside the tub and lay back and expand. I have under $50 invested.

Seems none of those sites ship to Canada.I might have to go the ebay route.

From the size chart I need a 1.75 inch tube.

What girth and/or width are you? I started at 5.25” and I got a 1.75” JD tapered cylinder. I could barely get into it flaccid. I had to wedge my glans in then vac in a bit, wiggle,vac,etc. Once I expanded any, I had one hell of a time getting out, even with lube. I bought a 2” tapered and it is perfect!

You can get the vacuum pump from an autoparts store and the tube and plumbing from any store that sells aquarium equipment. Buy tool handle dip if you go this route to make the base of the tube soft and leak free.

Not sure why its so expensive, maybe because its Canadian price.
