I’ve been increasing the amount of time I spend hanging. Since my glans has a tendency to blister I’ve had to ramp the weight up extremely slowly, from less than half a pound, to a full pound, and now to three pounds, in half-pound increments.
It took over a year to make it from a half pound to a full pound, maybe three months to get to two pounds, and maybe another two months to make it to three pounds. I’ve been tempted to try 3.5 pounds, but it has only been a few weeks since I moved to 3, so I’ll just let it ride another month or so before I try. Naturally a progression like this can’t continue, and I have no idea why I’m suddenly becoming more tolerant.
At 2.5 pounds I was getting noticeable discomfort along the bottom of the glans, where the base of the frenulum would be, except my frenulum was a casualty of the infection and scarring, and I don’t have one now. But there was a dime-size knot of scar tissue where the frenulum used to end, near the base of the glans. I wouldn’t have expected it to change much, but it has been pulling out flatter, and now there’s only some mild discomfort, which seems to be decreasing.
Moving up to 3 pounds, the discomfort there didn’t get any worse, but a new discomfort popped up. It *feels* like the urethra inside the glans is being stretched uncomfortably, but I expect it’s actually the line of scar tissue where the frenulum used to be. Nerve signals aren’t always very precise; note how hard it is to find the itchy spot when you’re trying to scratch your back.
Instead of weight plates, I’ve been using a half-pound sack of pennies and an assortment of lead “deep sea fishing weights.” They’re about 30mm in diameter, in various lengths. The weights have a convenient ring on one end.
I do most hanging laying on my back, straight out, with an overhead pulley and an offset pulley so the weights are off to the side instead of directly overhead. I’ve also been doing some hanging straight down; I can just drop a weight down a pant leg and walk around without it being obvious. I’ve mowed the yard and gone shopping. I’m only using one pound at the moment; I had found out earlier that I couldn’t tolerate as much weight sitting as I could when laying on my back, so after a couple of unwelcome blisters I’m cautious about adding more, though it’s probably time to notch it up a bit.
