It almost strikes me as disrespectful to people who have actually conquered real addictions to tag porn, gambling, and even shopping as addictions. If you don’t want to look at it anymore, you just stop. I quit smoking cigarettes over ten years ago. That was an honest to god addiction. Porn? Please.

The mind is physical. It doesn’t matter if an external substance is introduced or not. Porn can be an addiction. Whether it’s just a matter of stopping or something more pathological is down to the individual.

Just because you haven’t experience this particular addiction doesn’t mean it’s non-existent. Please don’t belittle those trying their best to end an addiction that they themselves take seriously. It’s a slap in the face for you to call it melodramatic then call it a ‘habitual overindulgence’.

Why don’t you try to just stop looking at it if it’s nothing.

Porn can be an addiction without a doubt!

At least you try. And you get great result.

I think that the battle is lost the istant you surrender to one image. After that, you lose. The war is in that image that you don’t have ever to see.

And it is fu..ing difficult. Because is a self-war. But sure you know how it is.

I was thinking that if alone we can’t do it, maybe like a community we can try something. At least we can try to draft a procedure, or some “commandments”. Maybe we build a separate forum (not on thunder…) to people like us that can’t stop looking at it.

I mean, I love Thunder’s place, really do. But here you find too many post with links with porn site, the battle of the babe, the ass of the weekend,…and I can’t resist them. It is my fault, I know. But having a place were this kind of thing are forbidden could be useful.

Or maybe the safest thing we can do is quit internet.

Scarsick I like the sound of trying something as a community too. Thestallion is aiming for 90 days, I’m also going to do this. Maybe you could do this too?

It’s all about intent in my opinion. The moment you deliberately seek out pornographic images, it’s a failure. That’s the standard I’m holding myself to anyway. I really like this thread & like the idea of forming a community around this too. Obviously quitting porn will not be a silver bullet, but for heavy users like me (2 + hours a day) I think it will definitely be a big step in the right direction regarding our personal development.

There are plenty of forums out there. On “yourbrainonporn.com” they have a bunch of links that could help us. If you wanted to do something on here, we could start a new thread and treat it like a daily diary for us all. Could work. Someone would have to start it though, I can still only start Newbie threads.

Officially, Day 1.

Me too. I had a pretty good run for a while (26-ish days), but I relapsed and kept relapsing, despite my attempts to quit. This weekend is a busy one, so I’m sure I’ll make at least three days, after that, we’ll see.

I have to say (maybe for my own edification) that I liked all the effects I got from not watching porn - physical and mental. It is clear that this is a better path, so I just have to keep reminding myself of those feelings which provided long term gratification rather than the short term reward I get from watching porn.

Goal: Just growing.

Well, it’s true - pornography addiction is not listed in the DSM, but I don’t think much of that anyway - afterall, happiness isn’t either… ;)

Lol, dude, I’m from before the internet, and I can tell you, porn existed back then too. hahaha.

Even if you don’t go buy physical porn at a porn store there is always the sears catalog. ;P

Day 20, don’t have a care in the world to look at porn. I am sure the urge will sneak up on me one of these days but right now I feel extremely free from it.

Day 60…

Day 2 for me. With all the talk about Rapture, I said “To hell with it! I’m jerking it!” and well I’m still here. So I guess I’m at Day 2 now.

PS - I’m joking.
