How can I hold my kegels for 5 seconds when I can only hold them 2seconds

I read in begginers forum for kegels you have to start out holding them for 5 seconds and do it 50 times. One problem,I can only hold them for 2 seconds?What should I do? Is it natural to have weak PC muscles or is it something that causes it?

Don’t worry about it. Start with 2 seconds, then work your way up. If the muscles are weak, it’s simply because they haven’t been used enough.

Thanks alot I quit before,but I decided to keep trying, wonder how long it takes before I see some progress?How many reps should I do while holding for 2 seconds? Btw if I smoke will that mess up my pc muscle if it gets stronger.

I’d recommend seeing how many you can do. Consider that your baseline, and set goals to increase both the time and reps. After a while it’ll become second nature and you’ll be doing them in the car, at your desk, etc. Once you get them figured out and get the strength up, you’ll really like the results.

Re: smoking. I doubt that it’ll have a direct impact on your kegels, but seriously, you know you should quit. Maybe make quitting tobacco and improving your kegels a combined goal. Good luck.

Look at it this way, since you’re starting off with a very weak pc muscle, you’re able to do more strengthening than other people, and you’ll see more results! So you’re actually lucky! Haha. As well as doing kegels throughout the day, try just sitting down for 1 minute and make it your aim to fatigue your pc muscle as much as possible in that minute. You don’t need to focus on counting reps or length of kegel holds etc, your aim is just to have your pc muscle tensed as much as possible and as HARD as possible in that minute. It’s more a test of will power than anything else. Try doing this a couple times a day maybe. Keep in mind that although it is possible (I guess) it is very unlikely that you will be able to do too many kegels in a day so just make it your aim to fill ANY spare time with kegels. It won’t take long for you to start noticing results I’m sure.

Now (01/05/2012): G 5.00(+0.15), BPEL 7.0(+0.6), NBPEL 6.4(+0.6)

Have you ever done kegels?Can you do them everyday? I’ve been doing them every other day.

I could only hold kegels for 3 seconds when I started. I can now hold my first one for about one minute. I found that alternating between long holds and doing as many 1 second kegels as I could, to fatigue helped me see good gains in overall PC strength.


Start 11-11 5.75BPEL x 4.5 MSEG; 02-12 7.0 BPEL x 5.0 MSEG; 04-12 7.625 BPEL x 5.5 MSEG

Yes. I’ve been doing kegels for about 6 months. Before I replied to this I just held a kegel for 5 min straight. When I started I could hold them for about 5 seconds max maybe.

Do you ‘feel the burn’ when you work out you pc? You want to aim to get that hot ‘worked out’ feeling after doing kegels. Either way you’ll get results. You’ll just get faster results if you work it more.

Not really I stopped counting my reps but I’m sure I did about atleast 100 today. I’m going to start doing them everyday,wonder how long its gonna take to see results and will it help me last longer during sex without having to stop for a second when I’m about to cum.

I stumbled upon this thread and am also fairly new to kegels. I started off slow and now have worked up. Yesterday though, I could not get an erection to jerk it. I was very alarmed and kinda freaked out since I am only 19. I perform the kegels for bladder control and it does actually help your blood flow I believe.
