Near IR And Water Pumping

I did numerous searches and didn’t see this asked/answered….

For extended sessions in the tube I normally use a heating pad and it keeps the water nice and warm.
Coming to the IR party a bit late (just too nervous about cooking my unit) I am finally getting a near IR lamp and was curious…. can I use it with a cylinder full of water?

Again, this makes me nervous but looking for some info from all the IR vets.

Lol, I guess there was a reason I couldn’t find any info on this question.

For now I will use the NIR lamp for pre and post routine and keep using the heating pad during.

Just thought I would ask to get a bit more info.

How did you double your volume?

For those reading the thread, I think the original poster came to the conclusion that infrared lamps next to cylinders is a significant risk of melting the cylinder and unlikely to penetrate the cylinder for maximum effective heat disbursement.

IR heat is typically used with no intervening barriers between the skin and the source of the heat.

Just a note from my personal experience anyway.

I just logged on to update this thread, basically exactly what TG said.

I will stick to wrapping my heat pad around the cylinder… much better/safer method of applying heat.

Water and electricity never a good idea!

TG, so would you think that is not good to use IR heat for pumping?

I used my IR lamp when water pumping for a while.
No issues with anything melting and it certainly felt like the heat was penetrating the cylinder, in fact it was the only time I ever got a burn.
I don’t know if the cylinder or the water caused some kind of magnifiying effect but I had problems with areas suddenly getting really hot.

Much preffer air pumping with a normal heat pad.

Water pumping even with a heat pad I need to shake the cylinder often to distribute the heat.
