Exactly right. The more hardcore gonzo stuff definitely causes more elevated dopamine levels, which is more addictive. Other things that increase dopamine levels are novelty, the idea of how wrong something is, shame, use of aids such as toys and practices such as autoerotic asphyxiation etc.

This also explains why guys who are addicted to porn keep looking for more and more “out there” stuff to get the same feeling of release. It might also explain why some guys end up looking at child porn, because of the same/wrong factor.

Nothing is wrong with masturbation. This is not an anti-masturbation thread. All things in moderation. I personally go for a less is more approach to masturbation and try and keep it down to a minimum.

Ever since I did the two week no porn/masturbation, I have been back to masturbation once 1-2 days, and edging almost everyday. Even though I am getting a lot of stimulation down there, I find that I have less urge to look for sex. I just enjoy pleasuring myself.

My longest streak was close to 7 months and during that time my mind was so clear and focused. It seemed like the relationships with my friends were better too. I could also do my PE routines pretty easily without porn.

I’m committed this time around to rid porn from my life for good. The worst problem of this is the energy depletion. As you get older it takes a lot of resources in the body to create sperm. At least with me that is the case. Couple that with only 5 hours of sleep a night, work, working out, it’s getting to the point at 39 where it takes me 5 days to really get up a good load and libido.

Masturbation is like a drug. Do it more and more and you feel less and less. Same idea.

I’ve recently discovered that porn is really damaging to my libido and EQ with real women (well, woman, since I’m married). The really interesting thing was that it happened yesterday morning, which was a day after a really intense PE work out. Usually the next morning after one of those it really doesn’t want to go full up. It prefers like 24 hours of recovery (hence the day off thing). However despite being the second day of a 2-day workout schedule and going pretty hard on it I could not get my wood to go down. That was a first for me and enjoying it.

I think it’s a combo of added EQ from the PE and the fasting. I wonder what i’ll be like at the end of this 30 day fast :) . Abstaining from porn is pretty easy. Abstaining from masturbating is another matter entirely.

How old are you AvgGuy? That probably has a lot to do with it. I too have never experienced any loss in libido during port fasts but I’m still under 30.

I generally use porn to get my PE sessions started, and, on the days I’m pumping, I use it to “keep things going” mentally during a pumping set. I have found that if I’m short on time, in a hurry, and/or just not into it mentally, thinking about mundane things like my to-do list at work, etc., I can actually lose a hard-on, or at least have the EQ diminish, even while in the tube, so the mental aspect is important to me. However, I have to agree with the wasted time assessment, because there have been many times that what should have been a 30-45 minute PE session has turned into an hour and a half or more. Isn’t the Internet an amazing place?

I think there is some merit to the points mentioned in the original post, but, on the other hand, the use of porn helped me de-personalize infidelity by a woman I was dating.
