A Newbie in need of penis pump advice

First of all, my goal is trying to maintain a longer erection, not as concerned by my size, I just thought this would be a good place for advice. Second, I have mild Cerebral Palsy so I don’t have good control of my right hand. I’ve seen a Urologist and so far, a penis pump is the only thing I can try to help. I’ve tried Viagra but my girlfriend and I are too spontaneous when it comes to sex and I can’t afford Cialis. So I got a basic, $17 penis pump and it works to a point but 9 out of 10 times, it lets me know the seal is not airtight. I have tried lube, rotating the pump and shaving off some hairs (like I’ve seen suggested in many websites), none of those help. I have been told that I should get a better one (I know that’s obvious now) but later I thought “what if the expensive pump doesn’t get a good seal either, will I have wasted my money”? Also I have been a bit confused and how I should use pumps, do I pump as fully as possible and leave it pumped for a certain amount of time, release the air then do it again? Are automatic/electric pumps better than manual? Is laying down better than sitting?

You need a pump with a gauge.

Air and/or Water Pump Set-Up: $64.17

See this chart for selecting your cylinder size:

See this post for getting started with pumping and initial routine:

Vacuum Pumping 101

See this thread about how to get a perfect seal:

Newbie can’t get a perfect seal — is continually pumping the pump ok?

I have ED and as gprent says a pump is not going to help you maintain an erection. However for me it does improve the quality of my natural erections, probably for reasons outlined here:

A pump isn’t going to guarantee that you get an erection, or especially maintain your erection once you exit the pump. Didn’t your urologist suggest putting on a cock ring after exiting the pump to help maintain your erection?

The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Thanks for the links but can you recommend a pump from amazon.com? I prefer shopping there

You can find this pump on amazon, but it will cost you $20 more. Your choice.

It is highly recommended. Get the correct size for you:

Not having regular income, I can only afford to get one pump, maybe another much, much later. I measured as best as I could and I am about 4.50 or so. Like I said in my original post, doing two-handed tasks can be a challenge, even something as small as measuring my penis

So you want me to pick for you? Get the 1.75” diameter cylinder.

You need lube to get a perfect seal. See the thread I linked above:

Executive summary:

- lube the entrance/inside of your cylinder about an inch or more with KY or a generic version.
- lube your entire penis with KY
- dip the entrance of the tube in a glass of water to "activate" the KY
- slide your penis into the tube and pump.

Dipping the tube in water "activates" the KY in the tube, which then bonds with the KY on your penis. That creates the seal between your cock and the cylinder.

Is that your base girth or midshaft? Let me know, it is possible you might want to start with a 1.5" and then upgrade to a 1.75" down the line.

I am going to give you a heads up about gprent. He knows his shit and once you get conditioned with the beginner routine in Vacuum Pumping 101 I am going to suggest you follow one of his routines. I will pass along some of his routines that have worked very very well for me.

Additionally you are going to want to invest in a heating pad to wrap around your cylinder to provide heat as you pump.

Well said, sta-kool. Nobody knows cylinder sizes better than gprent. The only thing I’d add is that if you want a better seal, a shave and a smaller diameter would help a lot.

Live long and prosper.

I have a water-based lube which I’ve used for a separate sex toy (and it feels amazing), I applied some to the entrance of the pump but hadn’t thought to lube up my entire penis as well. I measured the circumference of the middle of my penis while it was erect, no other area. What will a heat do for the pump? I have 2 heating pads already (for muscle pain) that could be tried. I read the Vacuum Pumping 101 thread but it was a little confusing to follow.

You need a thicker lube like KY jelly to lube the tube. I use a generic version from Walgreens

All PE should be done with heat. Keep the tissues warm. Your existing heating pad will work fine.

Is your base visibly thicker than your midshaft? Remember I am trying to help you pick out the right cylinder size for you. If you can measure your base that would be good.

What I wanted you to take away from Pumping 101 is the routine that gets you conditioned for pumping. I will quote that here in a minute. Wait I am actually going to modify it.

Your pressure should be around 3.0 hg or less.

Week 1: One 10 minute session every other day
Week 2: One 15 minute session every other day
Week 3: Two 10 minute sessions every other day
Week 4: Two 15 minute sessions every other day

The routine I am going to recommend once you are conditioned will look like this:

Three 10 minute sets @ 2.5 to 5hg (in a row)
After the first set, come out of the tube and masturbate to full erection
Re-enter the cylinder for your next set
After the second set, again come out and get a good hardon
Re-enter the cylinder for your last set
After your last set, masturbate to a hard erection and go for 10 to 30 mins
Then give your soft penis a nice massage

Again this is a gprent routine.

Thanks for all the info, very helpful! Base size is about the same, difficult to measure (Cerebral Palsy is quite annoying) Can’t afford to get the KY regularly though, that’s the only downside

You can buy any generic water based lube. I use Walmart brand and it works fine. If you and your girlfriend already have a favorite lube, use that.
