Are you applying UltraSound?
Are you monitoring temperature?
The reason I ask is because short answer is yes, strain percentage can be used as an indicator of weight increase, but not necessarily. For example, if you are just in your second cycle of your first period for the first time ever, and you are using a maximum weight of 1kg and your strain is too low, of course, plenty of room to slowly increase tension.
Now, if you are in your 5th week of your first period and your strain is getting low and you are already using 3-4kg, then that would indicate the natural curve of the strain process in which you are reaching the maximum strain for that period. Attempting to increase tension might lead to inflammation and fatigue which has to be avoided.
I believe, as a more effective and accurate way, is to monitor strain in real time. That means, with an active scale measuring tension and strain as you slowly increment tension.
