>The problem I foresee with quick release wood clamps is inability to modulate the pressure any dynamic way. Clamps only compress a certain way creating a certain pressure pattern. Unlike wing nuts which can be precisely adjusted for the amount of pressure desired for the session. Clamps may be too tight or not tight enough given what trauma you’re seeking to inflict that day and with clamps being the main method you have to keep extras on hand. Screws and nuts likely cost less than clamps.
Good points. I was thinking of a single wood clamp somehow rigidly fixed to the aluminium plates. It certainly gives less flexibility.
>Additionally I foresee an issue with v pressure distribution. For Wing that’s gives you the ability to tighten proximal and distal sides of the device but wood clamps would be pretty much strictly the left or right side. Adjusting dynamically once again is lost.
Agreed
>Your method of construction, while extensive and obviously robust, sounds more than feasible if you have that level of resources for this. Honestly I wouldn’t mind having a TT built that way myself.
I have a workshop that should make it easy but just need the time to do it.
